The first Czech private L-29 Delfín, OK-ATS

OK-ATS Historie

L29 airplane, serial number 993238, has been made in 1969 in 32nd series by Aero Vodochody. It made its first test flying  in March 20th, 1969. The plane begun it’s service for  Czechoslovakian Airforce in Airforce college in Kosice.During 70’s and 80’s, the plane moved through other units in Mosnov, Prerov and Namest nad Oslavou, where it served from 1990 till it’s final retirement in 2002. The last flight from Namest nad Oslavou airbase to Prerov airbase, has been made by it’s pilot Mr. Navratil and crew chief Mr. Sazel in December 9th, 2002. The plane was stored and prepared for sale.L-29A „Dolphin“, fuselage # 3238 ended up it’s career with 3536.05 flight minute and 6638 landings.

Almost 4 years passed till a new owner - Aviation Technologies and Services company, took over this airplane. It has been designated by civil call sign OK-ATS. In September 6th, 2006, the plane has been sent for a check to the air repair facility in Trenčín. In upcoming months the plane went through PP-2 and extended materiological checks.

In January 17th, 2007 the plane made it’s new test flight, flown by pilots Alois Hackel and Radek Pichal, under manufacturer’s supervision.In February 8th, another test flight followed, this time under UCL supervision. At the very same day, pilots were retrained for L-29 airplane. Following day, February 9th, „Dolphin“, piloted by Alois Hackel and Radek Pichal, flew via route Trenčín- Piešťany – Pardubice to it’s home airbase in Žatec-Macerka. The plane landed at 1:05PM Central European time.
